Three doctors. Three different angles on nutrition. One conclusion.
Paul Saladino, Anthony Chaffee and Shawn Baker have each arrived at the same place through different paths. Real food from real sources, built around animal protein and fat, is the foundation of human health and performance.
No seed oils. No processed food. No ultra refined carbohydrates. Just food that has existed for thousands of years and bodies that were built to eat it.
What they each bring to the table
Paul Saladino brought the animal based movement into the mainstream. His work on organ meats, fruit and nutrient density expanded the conversation beyond strict carnivore and made it accessible to more people. His core message is simple. Eat the most nutrient dense foods available. Those foods are animal foods.
Anthony Chaffee approaches it from a neurosurgical and evolutionary perspective. His argument is that plants developed defence mechanisms to avoid being eaten and that many of the compounds in plants, lectins, oxalates, phytates, are actively harmful to human health at scale. Remove them. Eat the animal.
Shawn Baker made it about performance. As a record holding masters athlete, he proved that you do not need carbohydrates, supplements or complex nutrition protocols to be elite. Simplicity and consistency with animal foods is enough.
What this means at CrossFit Uncommon
We are not telling you to follow a strict carnivore diet. What we are saying is that the direction all three of these voices point in is worth paying attention to.
More animal protein. Less processed food. Cut the seed oils. Prioritise sleep and recovery alongside your nutrition. These are not extreme ideas. They are the fundamentals that have been lost in decades of bad dietary advice.
Train hard. Eat real food. Recover well. That is the programme and it has always been the programme.
